My name is Will Cobb. I'm a freshman journalism student at The University of Texas who loves sports, music, design, writing, and just enjoying the college experience. At Highland Park High School in Dallas, I served for four years as a staff member on our newspaper, The Bagpipe. My experience here is what got me interested in journalism to begin with, and I thrived within the organization. By my senior year, I was Editor-in-Chief. During my time on The Bagpipe I received numerous accolades, both internally and outside of school. Within the staff, I was voted Sophomore of the Year, Junior of the Year, Senior of the Year, Most Valuable Staffer and Journalist of the Year. Outside of HPHS I was awarded an honorable mention in the Dallas Morning News' sports feature writing competition, and twice placed in UIL writing competitions. Although the newspaper was my focus for much of high school, I was also active in the Boy Scouts, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, am a member of two national academic honor societies, and was a part of two sports teams.
Now in college, I have continued my interest in journalism through the School of Communications, and am exploring other areas of life through fraternity involvement, intramural sports and elective classes. I am highly skilled in Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator, and have basic abilities in HTML5 and Final Cut.

My career goals are uncertain at this point, but I would love to stay in the field of journalism, exploring my interests in writing, design, and sports.
